The shop features many departments for your shopping convenience:
Special Sales: March and September are changeover times for the 2nd Edition Thrift Shop. All merchandise is placed on clearance and any remaining merchandise is donated to other worthy causes. The shelves and racks are restocked with all “new to us” merchandise. Periodically, half price sales on select items are held. Donations: We cannot survive without donations. The community has been very supportive over the years and we certainly appreciate all donations. We strive to put only quality merchandise on our shelves. Donations can be left in one of three ways: 1. Drop box just inside the front entrance of the library (off the parking lot) 2. Overnight drop box on the northeast corner of the building. 3. Bring items to the shop during store hours. We’ve come a long way since the first library-sponsored thrift shop opened in 1945 with the first donation of one very lively nanny goat. Taneyhills Library Club members were asked to donate anything they could spare – fancywork, baked goods, novelties, used clothing, and furniture. Today, the 2nd Edition Thrift Shop covers 3,700 square feet and is one of the finest in town. Over 70 volunteers work the front desk, sort, clean and polish, and price thousands of items. Shelves are restocked several times each week. Stop by soon to check out the great bargains at the 2nd Edition Thrift Shop. The shop is staffed entirely by volunteers allowing all proceeds to be used to provide financial support for the Taneyhills Community Library. More than half the annual budget of the library is being funded by thrift shop sales. Your support is important – it is a win, win: great bargains for you and financial support for Taney County’s largest library. |
